Fidelity Bank is in the process of establishing its new headquarters in the historic Scranton Electric Building in downtown Scranton, PA – making a transformative $26 million investment that’s projected to create more than 150 jobs.
Today, our team at Krieger + Associates Architects, in partnership with DxDempsey, is spearheading a comprehensive renovation of the Scranton Electric Building. The project focuses on essential core and shell improvements—including masonry restoration, window and door replacements, and the refurbishment of stairs, elevators, and restrooms. Given the building’s status as a historic landmark, we are taking great care to ensure that all enhancements remain true to its original 1896 design, with historically accurate detailing for elements such as windows, doors, and molding profiles.
Fidelity Bank selected the Scranton Electric Building for its deep local significance—it’s the iconic landmark in the city, made instantly recognizable by the towering four-story “Electric City” sign atop its roof. One of the most exciting aspects of the renovation is Fidelity’s commitment to restoring the building’s 8th-floor ballroom, which had been neglected in a previous renovation. Now, it will be returned to its former grandeur.
