One of our recent residential projects has received a 2020 Preservation Recognition Award from the Chestnut Hill Conservancy (CHC). According to the CHC, “The Preservation Recognition Awards honor outstanding projects within Chestnut Hill and surrounding areas. Each award recognizes a project that is a striking gift to the neighborhood today – and far into the future — and an inspiration for others as they care for their own buildings.” We share the award with contractor Dennis F. Meyer Inc., with whom we have a long-time working relationship.
The Philadelphia neighborhood of Chestnut Hill boasts a variety of handsome older homes, many constructed in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s of local stone known as Wissahickon schist. The owners of this home wanted to add a family room space in keeping with the style of the gracious 1883 house. We designed a small single-story addition, matching the stone work, window details and other exterior features of the house. When completed, the addition will have a deck on top.
Inside, the family room has oak floors, built-in cabinetry and other custom millwork. It leads to a renovated kitchen. Read more about the project and the CHC’s work here.
