We’ve designed a new two-story “forever” house in central Florida that offers the owners an opportunity to age in place at home. The home is designed with traditional styling and contemporary functionality. The private space on the ground floor contains home offices, a laundry, walk-in closets, and an elevator. The master suite’s glass doors open to the swimming pool and covered outdoor kitchen-dining area. Hallways and doorways are wide enough to accommodate persons with limited mobility, and there are no thresholds to hinder movement. The master bath has grab bars and a walk-in shower. On the public side of the ground floor, a large L-shaped open space contains a living room, informal dining area, kitchen, and formal dining area, all facing the pool and rear yard. The second floor has three bedrooms, two baths, storage, and a play space.
