This landmark 1920’s Chestnut Hill house by noted architect Robert McGoodwin had undergone earlier renovations to the first floor living room, entry hall and study. Our clients loved the house but now wanted to create a separate play space for their children, renovated baths, a guest suite, second floor laundry, and home office. In other words, our mission was to make the classic old house work for a 21st-century family, while retaining its special character. In addition to the second floor renovations, we transformed the third floor from a collection of small storage and former servants’ rooms into a large open children’s play area, a guest bedroom suite, and a home office. A new stairway provided a more open connection between the second floor and the new play area.
