Dated, undersized, and lacking natural light; our clients purchased this home to transform it into a modern family retreat. We reimagined the structure with a two-story, L-shaped addition, strategic roof alterations, and a completely reconfigured floor plan.
The heart of the home is now a spacious open-concept kitchen and dining area; relocating the original kitchen, dining room, and den. Large sliding glass doors open directly onto a new covered patio, pool, and courtyard-like setting. Adjacent to the new mudroom entry, we added a walk-in pantry, laundry room, and powder room, along with a workout room that looks out onto the pool.
Upstairs, the addition includes a private main suite with a generous dressing room, spa-like bath, and a dedicated home office. We relocated the children’s bedrooms and bathroom to one wing, providing separation from the main suite. Between them, we introduced a central flex space, a guest bedroom, and a full bath. We rebuilt the stairway to access a newly converted playroom. Made possible by re-patching the roof and adding dormers for light and space.
Outside, a poolside cabana with a fireplace and kitchen enhance the courtyard, while a discreet shed addition houses pool equipment and out-door shower. Throughout, clean-lined, contemporary finishes unify the spaces, and new energy-efficient Marvin windows bring in natural light while improving sustainability.
This project is also a National Winner of the 2025 Chrysalis Award for Whole House Remodel Over $1,000,000 category. Here are pictures and details for the renovation.
“Winning awards in multiple categories is difficult to do. Not only does this speak to their versatility, but to their commitment to quality on every project,” says Ken Kanline, Director of the Awards.
